Mint Hill Local History
Mint Hill was a rural community for most of its history before incorporating as a town in 1971.
An Overview
The Mint Hill area was settled as farmland in eastern Mecklenburg County, with churches, schools, and stores forming a crossroads community. The Town of Mint Hill incorporated in 1971, in part to retain local control as Charlotte expanded.
Since then, the town has grown into a mostly residential suburb while retaining some open land and historic sites.
