I-485 and Commuting From Mint Hill

I-485 runs along Mint Hill's western side with interchanges serving the town. Proximity to an interchange helps, but it does not guarantee a short commute.

Key Roads

  • I-485 — the outer beltway, with interchanges serving Mint Hill.
  • Matthews-Mint Hill Road and Lawyers Road — local arterials through the town center.
  • Albemarle Road (NC-24/27) — to the north toward east Charlotte.
  • US-74 (Independence Boulevard) — to the south via Matthews.

About Drive Times

Under favorable conditions, a drive from the Mint Hill town center to Uptown Charlotte is often around 25 minutes. That is an approximation between two defined points with light traffic; peak-hour trips, incidents, and work zones can add substantially. Test your own route on a weekday at the hours you would drive.

Transit

There is no light rail service to Mint Hill. Check CATS for any current bus or express routes, and treat proposed transit projects as proposals until funded and under construction.
